Sinopse Oficial: Kevin Lomax (Keanu Reeves), advogado de uma pequena cidade da Flórida que nunca perdeu um caso, é contratado John Milton (Al Pacino), dono da maior firma de advocacia de Nova York. Kevin recebe um alto salário e várias mordomias, apesar da desaprovação de Alice Lomax (Judith Ivey), sua mãe e uma fervorosa religiosa, que compara Nova York a Babilônia. No início tudo parece correr bem, mas logo Mary Ann (Charlize Theron), a esposa do advogado, sente saudades de sua antiga casa e começa a testemunhar aparições demoníacas. No entanto, Kevin está empenhado em defender um cliente acusado de triplo assassinato e cada vez dá menos atenção à sua mulher, enquanto que seu misterioso chefe parece sempre saber como contornar cada problema e tudo que perturba o jovem advogado.

Curiosidades
Inicialmente Advogado do Diabo seria dirigido por Joel Schumacher e estrelado por Brad Pitt, que interpretaria o personagem Kevin Lomax.
A luta de boxe que John Milton e Kevin Lomax assistem em determinada cena do filme não foi montada. Realmente os atores Al Pacino e Keanu Reeves rodaram esta cena durante a realização de uma disputa pelo título mundial de boxe, mais exatamente a luta em que Roy Jones Jr. derrotou Bryant Brannon ocorrida em 4 de outubro de 1996.
Apesar de não ter se saído bem nas bilheterias americanas, Advogado do Diabo foi um grande sucesso nos cinemas brasileiros, tendo levado mais de um milhão de espectadores aos cinemas.
Na versão em DVD do filme há 25 cenas inéditas, comentadas pelo diretor.

Espiritu biography
This top notch Argentinian progrock band was rooted in '69 when singer Fernando Bergé and guitar player Osvaldo Favrot founded Onda Corta. After many changes in the line-up the band featured Carlos Goler on drums, Claudio Martinez on bass and of course prime movers Fernando and Osvaldo in '72. Under their new name ESPIRITU the band gave a serie of gigs in '73 and released a single entitled "Soy la Noche". It was received well, ESPIRITU started to rehearse for their debut album and added a keyboard-player, first David Lebon but when he left Gustavo Fedel was willing to replace him. In this line-up ESPIRITU released their first album entitled "Crisalida" in '75, a fine symphonic rock record with echoes from GENESIS and YES. The band was at their pinnacle: good response from both fans and the press and spectacular live shows. Unfortunately Fedel decided to leave the band, he was replaced by Ciro Fogliatta and these musicians released the second album entitled "Libre y Natural". Because of lack of support from the record company, musical disputes and a lot of stress ESPIRITU disbanded in '76. 

In '81 the record company invited Osvaldo and Fernando to make a new album, they had to search for new musicians because the other three original members were not able to join or not to trace. In '82 ESPIRITU finally released "Espiritu III", a year later followed by "En Movimiento" and in '96 the live album "Espiritu Live" in The Obras stadium '82" was released ("En Vivo En Obras" was the original title). In 2001 Osvaldo started to search for musicians in order to resurrect ESPIRITU. Despite the terrible circumstances in Argentina to make progrock (the media ignores it totally!) he succeeded, Osvaldo's son Fredirico was one of them! In 2003 this new line-up released "Fronteras Magicas". It was presented live in the ND Theatre on December 10th in 2003. 

The first album "Crisalida" is their best effort, it contains beautiful and alternating compositions with many changing atmospheres (from mellow with acoustic guitar to up-tempo with heavy electric guitar), lush keyboards and some vocal harmonies. The most obvious hints are GENESIS and YES but the music is also often compared with the early Italian progrock like PFM and SEMIRAMIS, very melodic with lots of captivating musical ideas.

Egberto Gismonti was born in 1947 in Carmo, Brazil. He began his formal music studies at the age of six. After studying classical piano for 15 years, he went to Paris to study with Nadia Boulanger (orchestration and analysis), and composer Jean Barraqué, a disciple of Schönberg and Webern. 

Returning to Brazil, Gismonti began to glimpse a reality broader than that of classical music alone. He was attracted by Ravel's ideas of orchestration and chord voicings, as well as by choro, a Brazilian popular instrumental genre where varied kinds of guitars, reeds and percussion are featured. To play this music he made the transition from piano to guitar, beginning on the 6-string classical guitar and switching to the 8-string guitar in 1973. He spent two years experimenting with different tunings and searching for new sounds, which is also reflected in his use of flutes, kalimbas, sho, voice, bells, etc. By the early '70s, he had laid the groundwork for his current conception and was listening to musicians as wide-ranging as Django Reinhardt and Jimi Hendrix. For him, Hendrix's achievements were proof that "popular" and "serious" idioms need not remain opposite poles: "There's no difference between the two kinds of music..." 

Gismonti's first ECM record, Dança das Cabecas, a duo LP featuring percussionist Naná Vasconcelos, dating from 1977, was nominated Album Of The Year by Stereo Review and received the Großer Deutscher Schallplattenpreis. Sol do Meio Dia found the duo augmented by saxophonist Jan Garbarek, percussionist Collin Walcott and guitarist Ralph Towner; the session following on a tour featuring Gismonti, the Belonging Quartet and Oregon. Gismonti dedicated this album to the Indians of the Xingu region of the Amazon, with whom he had lived for a period of time in the jungle. On his following 1979 recording Solo, he plays 8-string guitar, piano and bells, expressing a pure and comprehensive view of his music. 

Tha next album to present Gismonti was a trio recording entitled Magico with bassist Charlie Haden and saxophonist Jan Garbarek, recorded in 1979. The same year, the trio toured Europe, including a concert at the Berlin Jazz Festival, and recorded a second Magico album, entitled Folk Songs. In 1981, Gismonti again toured with Haden and Garbarek, performing throughout Europe. 

The album Sanfona, is related to the Brazilian roots of his music. It features both group and solo work within the context of a single release. On the first record of his two-disc set, Gismonti is joined by his Brazilian group Academia de Danças: Mauro Senise (saxophone and flutes), Zeca Assumpção (bass) and Nenê (drums and percussion). On the solo disc, the emphasis is on his guitar playing and on Indian organ improvisation. In his liner notes for Sanfona, Geraldo Carneiro characterizes Gismonti's offering as "a trip through Brazilian rhythms, musical forms and popular festivals... symbolizing Brazilian culture in all its breadth from solemn to burlesque." 

Duas Vozes with Naná Vasconcelos appeared in 1984. Today Gismonti strives to bring two influences together, Western Europe music and the music from Brazil. Dança dos Escravos, released in 1989, takes him a step further in the direction where distinctions between "serious" and "popular" music are blurred. In harmonic terms, Gismonti has found a way of combining two cultures, as in the music of Villa-Lobos, Baden Powell or João Gilberto. His rhythms, also extremely delicate and carefully constructed, never suffer from a lack of pulsating energy.

Boud Deun debuted with this awesome record, which was to become just the first of a series of stunning offerings. Nowadays they remain one of the most sorely missed jazz rock acts of the 90s. From they one their style was very much based on a mix of 71-73 era Mahavishnu Orchestra's mystical impetus, Red-era KC's neurotic energy, and Dixie Dreggs' playful magic; once this mixture is realized, add some of underground rock muscular power, and what you get is a musical strategy full of fire and skill. The proficiency and enthusiasm of every individual member allows them to interplay with awesome precision, creating enough room for inspired improvisation. The constant duels and dialogues between the guitar and the violin are amazing and captivating, and the solid rhythm section shows us a bassist capable of coming occasionally to the fore in order to provide some fiery bass lines, while the drummer incarnates Bruford's finesse and Cobham's excellence in his single persona. 'Sleeping Again', 'The Drift', and the band's namesake closing track are some of mi favs in this album. 'Continued' and 'Swimming for Help' are also worth mentioning for the great amounts of storming energy instilled in them. All in all, the material is impressive, keeping a perfect sense of coherence in their musical statement. Every record by Boud Deun is a definite must for jazz collectors, and generally speaking, for all lovers of adventurous and well-crafted music. So why not give it the perfect rating? I'm saving it for their spleadorous final effort 'The Stolen Bicycle'.

Together with Espíritu, Ave Rock was a pioneer of symphonic prog in Argentina, their second album "Espacios" being their most accomplished effort. The band's compositional ambitions are evidently high, as it can be inferred from the pretentious expansions of 'Pausa en Espacios' and 'Surcos en el Aire' - 21 and 15 minutes, respectively -, but if we look beyond this particular detail, we'll notice that the band has a lot of strong points: an ability to organize diverse musical motifs with lively cohesiveness, a clever management of textures and tempo shifts, robust performance skills, and solid interplaying. While references to Yes are evident in Ave Rock's global sound, those are not as notable as they were in Espíritu - Ave Rock's music tends to be more reflective and less lively than their aforementioned compatriots, so their major foreign influences stem from Genesis' dramatic sensibility, 73-75 Pink Floyd's eerie melancholy, and some of the special ethereal magic usually associated to Invisible, another compatriot band that was very influential in the local rock scene during the early 70s. Since the lyrics are not too abundant, the vocal parts don't affect essentially the band's overall style, but every time the vocal harmonies appear, the listener may hear some Yessian hints. The dual guitar labour assures a permanent presence of electric power all throughout the repertoire, both in the fast and the slow parts; meanwhile, keyboardist Alfredo Salomone adds a touch of distinction with his piano chord progressions, and layers on organ and synthesizer. The rhythm section manages to sustain the momentum of the rockier moments and turn to a more subtle role during the slow passages. Sandwiched between the two epics, '4.30 en el Universo' is an intimate ballad that may pass overlooked, but it's pleasant anyway. Generally speaking, "Espacios" is a very interesting example of the high quality attained by the earliest South American prog bands, which paid a close attention to the most prominent bands of the UK and Italy while struggling to create their own sound

While hinting at the groove/melody synthesis so brilliantly executed by Everything But the Girl, the U.K. trio Kosheen have the good sense to temper their beats and let the catchy pop songs fly on Resist. Starting off with the dark drum & bass whirr of the massive club hit Hide U, the album goes on to deliver even harder D&B ("Slip Slide Suicide"), morose downtempo ("I Want It All"), and heady electro ("Catch"), but Kosheen are really aiming for pop chart domination. With Siam Evans's resolute vocals, along with the happy acoustic guitars and artful production of Darren Decoder and Markee Substance, "Cover," "Harder," "Hungry," and "Face in a Crowd" are only half a step removed from the catchy pop tunes that Madonna and Cher regularly churn out. Some may think these songs are too pop, but others will simply get lost in the melodies and dance.
